Biography of Jackie Chan
Jackie Chan is a Chinese actor, filmmaker, martial artist, and stuntman born in 1954 in Hong Kong in an impoverished family. Jackie immigrated to Australia with her family when she was six years old, but the following year her parents sent her back to Hong Kong and sent her to a boarding school where the students were treated very hard. He was learning acrobatics, singing, and martial arts from 7 to 17 and played a role as a child actor and later a stuntman. In Jackie Chan’s first films, producers tried to make him a replacement for Bruce Lee, but he found his niche in the late 70s by mixing choreographed dance with humor.
In the early 80s, when his attempt to enter the English-language cinema was unsuccessful, he went beyond traditional martial arts films and joined modern action-adventure films. Jackie Chan often did dangerous stunts. In the movie “Operation Condor,” his fall resulted in a fractured skull and hearing loss, and he almost died.
Finally, in the 1990s, Jackie Chan entered the American market, and in 1995, he received the “Lifetime Achievement” award from MTV. He continued to work in both Hong Kong and Hollywood cinema and was the first Chinese actor to receive an honorary Oscar. In addition to acting, Jackie Chan also pursued music and released several music albums in 1984. He founded the Jackie Chan Charity Organization in 1998 to provide scholarships to Hong Kong youth.
